Activities undertaken Exchange: Two films made with the community's participation in Pastapur, Andhra Pradesh, with dalit women and in Garhwal with villagers of Jardhar Gaon. Later both films were dubbed in Telegu and Hindi. A group of women who were involved with the film-making process were facilitated to travel from Pastapur to Jardhar Gaon. They screened the film made with them in Hindi and they saw the film made with Jardhar Gaon villagers in Telegu. Later, the group, along with the women groups in JardharGaon, visited the locations the film had covered and got to know the stories first hand. They exchanged experiences and knowledge. Six months later we facilitated the other group of women from Jardhar Gaon to travel all the way south to Pastapur and do a similar exchange. The film made with the Jardhar Gaon community was screened in Pastapur in Telegu and the visiting women were taken through villages, putting through the pieces in the jig saw of the story of the dalit women and their struggles their film depicted. In effect the films stood as the bridge between two
communities. Environment education: A pilot project to look into the efficacy of Education with Video was sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Germany and Okomedia-Freiberg. We covered a few schools in Delhi, from public to resettlement colony schools and government schools. We also covered a few rural schools in our survey. The results were printed in a report titled Video In Environment Education through Audio Visual Media in India – A Qualitative Research Study. Colleges, schools and film schools: Programmes are under way to take documentary films to children and youth. Regular programmes are organised with film screening and resource people facilitating discussions around the content of the films. Our programmes run regularly in Delhi schools such as Sardar Patel Vidayalaya, SriRam and Vasant Valley as well as in Delhi University colleges. |
