Earthcare is a Delhi-based production house set up in 1995 by Krishnendu Bose and Madhurima Sen Bose. KRISHNENDU BOSE set up Earthcare Films, making wildlife and conservation films. After acquiring a Masters degree in Economics from Delhi School of Economics (1985), he went independent, making documentaries on conservation development politics. Harvesting Hunger – a film on the politics of food in India won the Special Jury Award at Okomedia Environment Film Festival in Freiberg, Germany in 2000 and awarded at the EarthVision Environment Film Festival in Tokyo 2001. Jardhar Diary – a film on community conservation in the Himalayas was awarded by Earthvision Environmental Film Festival, Tokyo 2003. His film on the tiger crisis- Tiger- the death chronicles was awarded the Wildlife Conservation Award at the 4th Vatavaran Film Festival 2007 and Conservation Award at the International Wildlife Film Festival at Missoula, Montana in 2008. He has been awarded the highest award in India for environment filmmaking, Prithvi Ratna in 2009. Along with producing films, he conducts workshops in schools and college on Environment using his films as a medium. He has designed and executed exchange programme between rural communities of India around films made about them. Krishnendu has done a project funded by Ministry of Environment of Germany– looking at efficacy of raising awareness for conservation through films among young people. Krishnendu is a fellow of an international fellowship programme- LEAD (Leadership in Environment and Development) and a member of IUCN commission on Education and Communication. Krishnendu was invited as a consultant, to participate in a weeklong workshop with the youth in Togo, West Africa, training them in participatory video. Krishnendu was invited to attend and screen his films, at the First Congress on Communication for Development in Rome, Oct 2006. Krishnendu is also a guest faculty at a Media College in Delhi. Since 1996 Krishnendu, has also involved in International Television production. He has produced shows for Sony- AXN’s- Amazing Race Asia. He has also co-produced an award winning documentary on pesticide deaths with Honrung Television, Hamburg – Cycle of Poison. He has been line producer of television programmes produced by Paramount Television, Hollywood for their wildlife Series Wild Things, CBS Network for their 7 time Emmy Awarded Series Amazing Race, and a science series- Daily Planet for Discovery Channel, Canada among many other shows. Krishnendu, lives with his wife Madhurima and two children in Delhi. MADHURIMA SEN BOSE, Director of EarthCare Productions (P) Ltd, is a major in Physics and started out in 1990 as an independent filmmaker in EarthCare Films. With years of experience in production, soon she branched out into coordinating film projects. Since 1997 she has single-handedly facilitated and planned productions for Television productions coming to India, for production houses scattered all over the world. In 2004, she coordinated a 5 X 1-hour show for TWI, UK - “Road Raja”- shot in Mumbai. She has been an important line producer in the television series The Amazing Race, CBS, USA. She has been the Indian producer for a 6 X 1 hour series on Indian History for BBC2 “ The Story of India” , broadcasted in 2008. She line produced 5 X 1 hour Discovery Canada show on Indian Science- “The Daily Planet”. She lives with her husband Krishnendu and two children in Delhi. |
